About the Artist

Portrait by Eugene Hall, 1982
Lauren Peterson is a graduate of the American Academy of Art in Chicago, studying with renowned artists Irving Shapiro, Bill Parks, and Eugene Hall. Particularly influential was her time with Hall, who was the protégé of the master painter, Vladimir Zlatoff-Mirsky, who in turn studied with the great Russian painter, Ilya Repin. After leaving the Academy, Lauren continued her studies with Hall in his Rockford studio, assisting him with murals and conservation of damaged paintings while continuing to work in both the commercial and fine art fields, doing illustration, portraits, and other commissioned work.
Lauren maintains an active studio practice and teaches drawing and painting classes in the Chicago area.
